An introduction

Welcome to the TheWordsAreMine group page!

What is our purpose?  Our purpose is to support and encourage writers---especially fanfic writers, who are otherwise underserved in our communities.  We are here to talk about all writing, but particularly that taboo topic of fanfic, and its associated issues and challenges, that go undiscussed in other venues.

Who are we? We're a group of people who like to write, who like to read writing, and who are willing to throw the usual rules of "originality" out the window.  We are here to encourage, welcome, and support all writers, including fanfic writers.

Do you just write fanfic? No.  Almost all of us also write our own original works.  You don't have to write fanfic to be a member.  You do, however, have to be open to the genre---not necessarily to write it yourself, but you must be friendly and polite to those who choose to do so.
